Taiwanese localization movement - Localization (本土化, pinyin: Běntǔ huà, Pe̍h-oē-jī: pún-thó·-hòa) is a political term used within Taiwan to emphasize the importance of Taiwanese culture rather than to regard Taiwanese as solely an appendage of Chinese. This involves the teaching of Taiwanese history, geography, and culture from a local perspective, as well as promoting languages native to Taiwan, including Holo, Hakka and aboriginal languages.

Culture of Taiwan - The Culture of Taiwan is a blend of traditional Chinese with significant Asian influences notably Japanese and Western influences including American, Spanish and Dutch. The Taiwanese aboriginals also have a distinct culture.

Hoklo (ethnic group) - Hoklo (Chinese: 福佬; pinyin: Fúlǎo; Taiwanese: Ho̍h-ló or Hō-ló; pronounced and spelled Holo) primarily refers to one of the four ethnic groups in Taiwan. Their culture originated in Fujian province, China, but genetically they are the hybrid of Han and Taiwanese lowland aborigines (Pêⁿ-pó·-chok).
